About BooxDay
The first calendar built for Onyx Boox
When no one else would build a calendar app using the Boox SDK that Boox tablets deserved, we did. One vision. One app that changes everything.
Someone had to go first.
Onyx Boox has been making incredible e-ink tablets for years. Millions of users. A passionate community. Hardware that pushes the boundaries of what e-ink can do.
Sure, there are calendar apps out there. Hundreds of them. Even a few made for Boox. But none of them went all the way.
No native SDK integration with real stylus support. No two-way Google Calendar sync. No AI assistance. And definitely no connection to Boox Notes—the app you use every day.
We didn't just build another calendar app.
We built the complete package: Onyx SDK for instant stylus response, true two-way Google sync, AI that actually helps you plan, and the world's first Boox Notes integration.
Light years ahead of anything Boox-specific out there.
So we became the first. The first app to integrate with Boox Notes. The first calendar with native SDK stylus support. The first to combine cloud sync, AI, and e-ink optimization in one package.
"Every great community deserves software built with love. Someone had to go first. We're proud it was us."
From the Boox community
"Finally, a calendar that understands why I bought a Boox in the first place. Writing my schedule feels as natural as pen on paper. I've tried every planner app—this is the one I stuck with."
"The Boox Notes integration is a game-changer. I link my meeting notes directly to calendar events now. Can't believe this didn't exist before—it's like the app was reading my wishlist."
"I was skeptical about the AI features, but the 'Plan My Day' actually gets me. It knows I'm useless before 10am and schedules deep work in the afternoon. Small thing, huge difference."
"Google Calendar sync that actually works both ways—brilliant. I add events on my phone, they appear on my Boox. Scribble a note on my tablet, it syncs back. Exactly what I needed."
One Boox enthusiast. One passion. One app.
We fell in love with e-ink.
Then we got frustrated.
Onyx Boox changed everything
The first time we picked up a Boox tablet, we knew paper would never be the same. The Carta 1200 display. The wacom-level stylus precision. The open Android ecosystem. Onyx had created something remarkable—a device that honored the written word while embracing the digital age.
We read on it. We took notes on it. We annotated PDFs and devoured books. The e-ink display was gentle on our eyes. The battery lasted weeks. It became our thinking companion.
But planning? That was broken.
Every calendar app we tried was designed for phones. Tiny touch targets that frustrated stylus users. No integration with Google Calendar. No AI to help plan your day. No connection to Boox's native note-taking. No understanding of what makes e-ink special.
We wanted to plan our days the way we read our books—thoughtfully, with stylus in hand, calendar synced, and AI assistance when needed. But nothing existed.
If no one else will, we will.
We waited. Surely someone would build this. A year passed. Then another. The Boox community kept growing. The hardware kept improving. But the software gap remained.
So we made a decision: Stop waiting. Start building.
"If Onyx can reimagine what a tablet should be, we can reimagine what a calendar should be."
Building something that never existed
There was no template to follow. No existing app to copy. We had to invent solutions to problems no one had solved before:
How do you make handwriting feel instant on e-ink?
SolutionUse the Onyx SDK directly—the same engine that powers Boox Notes.
How do you connect to Boox Notes when no API exists?
SolutionMonths of reverse engineering and creative integration.
How do you make AI useful without making it creepy?
SolutionLet users teach the AI about their life, in their own words.
The calendar we wished existed
Every feature required invention. Every solution required creativity. And slowly, BooxDay took shape.
BooxDay is now the app we reach for every morning. We plan our days with handwritten tasks. We sync our Google Calendar but keep our notes private. We let AI help us prioritize, but we stay in control.

How we think about software
Do one thing well
BooxDay is a calendar. Not a note-taking app, not a to-do list manager trying to be everything. We focus on being the best calendar for Boox—and we integrate with other great apps for the rest.
Calm over chaos
No notifications. No gamification. No streaks or badges. Your calendar should be a place of focus, not another source of anxiety. We design for peace of mind.
Privacy by default
Your handwritten notes never leave your device. Sync is optional. AI features can be turned off. We believe your thoughts are your own.
Users over metrics
We don't track engagement. We don't optimize for screen time. We build features because they help you, not because they boost our numbers.
Be part of something first
BooxDay is more than an app—it's proof that one passionate person can build remarkable things when they care deeply about the people they're building for.
When you download BooxDay, you're not just getting an app. You're joining a community of Boox enthusiasts who believe their favorite devices deserve software built with the same care and attention that Onyx puts into their hardware.
